What I’ve Been Reading (Fiction) ~ Happy Place by Emily Henry

- Contemporary, Romance, Chick Lit

Someone said to me once, 'Why don't you read something else that's actually going to benefit you?' My response was, 'because reading fiction is my happy place. It benefits me because it makes me happy and my happiness is important to me.' So incase you need to hear it today, your happiness is important so make sure you take some time for yourself to do something that brings you joy (even if it's only for 5 minutes)!

What I’ve Been Reading (Non Fiction) ~ Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker

- Science, Health, Self Help, Psychology, Neuroscience

If you struggle with any kind of sleep issues, then this is the book you need to read! Matthew Walker is a scientist who has been researching sleep for the last 20 years and this is an INCREDIBLE culmination of his findings. Using studies to demonstrate his thought-provoking ideas, whilst giving in-depth advice, guidance and tips; I’ve found it to be an unbelievably helpful resource on my journey to improving my sleep!

What I’ve Been Listening To ~ The Art Of Being Well, Dr Will Cole

I recently discovered Dr Will Cole’s podcast which I’ve been loving so far! For anyone on a health journey, it's informative whilst being light and easy to understand. This episode with Dr Vincent Pedre focuses on gut health and gives the lowdown on oxalates, histamine intolerance, fermented foods, probiotics, fibre and more!

What I’ve Been Eating ~ Blueberry Cassava Flour Muffins

Whilst trawling through Mast Cell 360 website (the best resource for MCAS and histamine intolerance IMO) I came across this recipe for blueberry muffins made with cassava flour which are gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, low histamine, low lectin, low salicylate, medium oxalate. They taste SOOO GOOD as well; I've eaten one every single day for the last 3 months! You can batch cook them then freeze them but make sure you cook them long enough so they are't still gooey inside!

What I’ve Been Drinking - Raw Unpasturized Milk

There's a lot of controversy surrounding the consumption of raw milk because store bought milk is usually pasteurised where extreme heat is used to kill pathogens. Raw milk is not pasteurised which means that the benefits usually lost during the pasteurisation process like vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, proteins, enzymes and beneficial bacteria are retained. Raw milk can be used to help heal digestive issues, asthma, eczema, autoimmune conditions and so much more. It tastes amazing too! Like a creamy vanilla milkshake and is usually better tolerated than pasteurised milk. I buy fresh from a local farm in bulk, freeze it and drink it daily.

What I’ve Been Taking ~ Curcumin with BioPerine

Curcumin is an anti-inflammtory compound found in turmeric which reduces inflammation and also has antioxidant properties. If you supplement with curcumin it's important to take it combined with bioperine (a compound found in black pepper) because this increases its absorption. I've found it to be especially helpful for reducing overall body pain so if you have Fibromyalgia or any another type of chronic pain then it might be worth a try! Nutri Advanced originally gifted it to me to try, it took a few weeks at the full dose to work and now I can't go without it, I pay for a monthly subscription.

What I’ve Been Trying Out ~ Envol App

Meditation apps... you name them, I've tried them. I always found it difficult to stick with one particular app, bouncing around between a few, never really finding one I LOVED until I came across Envol app, which I've been using daily for the last 2 years. Created by @juliewithjoy to help people with their recovery from chronic illness, I appreciate the way this app combines both meditation for the mind whilst also focusing on healing the body. It has frequency music, uses binaural beats, visualisations and sound journeys too!
